The Meditational Trek to the Buddhist Sacred Sites Trail of the Khumbu Region is a spiritual journey that combines trekking through the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes with opportunities for meditation and contemplation at ancient Buddhist monasteries, hermitages, and sacred sites. This trail is designed for those seeking a peaceful and serene experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing them to connect with nature and find inner peace.
The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, also known as the gateway to Everest. From Lukla, you start trekking and pass through several ancient monasteries, hermitages, caves, nunneries, Mani walls, and chortens. Some of the prominent monasteries you will visit include Thame Monastery, Khunde Monastery, Khumjung Monastery, Pangboche Monastery, and Tengboche Monastery, which is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region.
As you trek through these sacred sites, you will also be able to enjoy the serene beauty of the high Himalayas, including majestic mountains, waterfalls, forests, and yak pastures. The trek provides opportunities for meditation and self-reflection in the tranquil environment of the monasteries and hermitages.
Along the way, you will also have the chance to experience the Sherpa culture and tradition by visiting Sherpa villages and interacting with the local people. This cultural immersion adds another dimension to your trekking experience.
The trek ends as you return to Lukla and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Throughout the trek, you will be accompanied by an experienced guide and porters who will assist you and ensure your safety and comfort. Please note that the trek is classified as strenuous, so it requires good physical fitness and stamina. The best seasons to undertake this trek are autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) when the weather is favourable and the skies are clear.
The cost of the trek includes airport transfers, accommodation in Kathmandu, domestic flights, meals during the trek, guide and porter services, necessary permits, and government taxes. However, it does not include meals in Kathmandu (except breakfast), travel insurance, international airfare, personal expenses, and personal trekking equipment.
The Meditational Trek to Buddhist Sacred Sites in the Khumbu region offers a unique opportunity to combine trekking in the Himalayas with a spiritual journey, allowing you to find inner peace and rejuvenation amidst the stunning natural beauty of Nepal.
